Section 5.4: Markup Annotations

Aji Annotate includes three types of markup annotations: highlight, underline, and strikeout. These markup annotations are based on the location of text in the document.

Note that this means that it is required that the metadata for the document has been processed and downloaded in order for markup annotations to be enabled. Also, the PDF file must contain information about the location of words on the page in order for markup annotations to function properly; so, for example, documents that are scanned images may not be able to support the use of markup annotations. Even if you cannot add markup annotations, however, you can still achieve similar effects using Finger or Straight-Line annotations.

To create a markup annotation, tap the Add Annotation toolbar item, and select the appropriate button:

After tapping the appropriate button, drag your finger over the text that you wish to mark up in the same way that you would when performing text selection. The display will dynamically update to show how your markup will appear, allowing you to easily make adjustments. Lift your finger when done creating the markup.

Immediately after your markup annotation is created, a popup editing window will appear:

This allows you to quickly delete the annotation in case you need to make a correction. Or, tap the edit button to associate a text comment with your markup annotation.
