TT Pro Tour
TT pro tour

Welcome to the TouchTerm Pro tour!

This tour is meant to be an introduction to TouchTerm Pro, so we'll be taking a high-level overview of the core features that set TT Pro apart, and demonstrating the power that TT Pro can provide. For more details on how to configure and use these TT Pro features, or for getting started with your own copy of TT Pro, please visit our TouchTerm Pro Guide.

Please note that all of these videos were created using an iPhone simulator, which runs on a normal computer; therefore, you'll see a mouse cursor and hear mouse clicks instead of taps. It's not as good as a live demonstration, but the video quality is much better this way, and at least the mouse cursor helps to indicate where the taps are occurring.

Introduction to TouchTerm Pro (2m 27s)

Introduction to TouchTerm Pro

Using the default configuration settings, basic keyboard and terminal interaction in TouchTerm Pro works in much the same way as in the basic version of TouchTerm. However, in addition to the ability to enter keyboard commands, TT Pro provides the ability to perform connection and interface actions using gestures. For example, to adjust the terminal font size, swipe upwards and downwards; or, use double-swipe in the upper-right (or lower-right) directions to make the input interface nearly transparent (or opaque). By default, TT Pro ships with several useful gestures configured; however, the real power of TouchTerm Pro is in the ability to configure gestures to do anything you wish.

For more information on specific features of TouchTerm Pro, see the Directory Navigation, Customization, Text Completion, Copy and Paste, or Gestures videos below. Or, skip ahead to the final video where we put it all together in a showcase of the TouchTerm Pro interface features.

Graphical Filesystem Navigation (1m 48s)

Graphical Filesystem Navigation

Get where you're going, and get there fast! Instead of typing "cd" and using remote shell-based tab-completion, launch the Directory Navigation interface, and navigate the remote filesystem in a fast and intuitive way. When this is in effect, TT Pro suppresses all output and leaves you back at the prompt, in the directory to which you've navigated. Note that you can also copy full pathnames to the Clipboard when in Directory Navigation Mode.

Customization (2m 59s)

Customization

The real power of TouchTerm Pro comes from ability to customize the interface to perform exactly the commands that you want. This video walks you through the customization of a Gesture to help facilitate editing with emacs.

Text Completion (2m 19s)

Text Completion

We know that typing long commands on an iPhone or iPod Touch can be extremely tedious, so we've added thorough Text Completion support. Everything you type into a terminal session -- and all of the output that comes back from the remote host -- is indexed in a completion database, and then available for you to select interactively. TT Pro even remembers your selections, and prioritizes the most frequently used commands.

Copy and Paste (1m 46s)

Copy and Paste

Use two fingers at once to display the selection markers, which can then be dragged and easily adjusted to exactly the position you'd like. A quick "flash" indicates when your selection has been copied to the clipboard. Then, use any configurable gesture to paste the clipboard contents back at the cursor location. The selection marks can also be placed using gestures, making it easy to select text that spans more than a screen. TT Pro even includes a right-hand vs. left-hand configuration mode, which tailors the location of the popup zoom view to your handedness.

Using Gestures (2m 00s)

Using Gestures

This video uses Gesture Reporting Mode to illustrate the gestures that TT Pro supports: Single-, Double-, and Triple-Tap; Single-, Double-, and Triple-Tap-and-Hold; Swipe and Double-Swipe; Tap-Swipe and Swipe-Tap; and Swipe-and-Back. All of the Tap gestures can optionally be associated with the 8 "hot" regions of the screen: the four corners and the four edges. Similarly, all of the Swipes use one of the 8 swipe directions: left, right, up, down, or the four diagonals. All gestures include instant graphical feedback so that you can see what the Gesture Engine has recognized.

Putting it all Together (2m 32s)

Putting it all Together

In this final video, we've put together a little of everything to show off the potential power of TT Pro! We hope you'll find TT Pro as powerful, yet fun and easy to use as we have.
